There are several types of transactions that can cause Overdrafts that may be paid by Overdraft Transfer Protection or Courtesy Pay Overdraft:
- ATM transfers or withdrawals*
- One-time debit card payments*
- Pre-authorized debit card payments (e.g. loan payments)*
- Checks (e.g. personal checks)
- ACH transactions (where you give a company the numbers from the bottom of your check and authorize them to use it to withdraw funds from your account)
- Bill Pay transactions*
Provident has two Courtesy Pay Overdraft services: one for ATM transfers or withdrawals and one-time debit card payments, and one for recurring debit card payments, checks, ACH, and Bill Pay. For consumer accounts, Provident is not able to authorize Courtesy Pay Overdraft service for ATM transfers or withdrawals and one-time debit card payments (e.g. groceries, gas, etc) unless you opt-in. There are two ways to notify us that you would like these transaction types covered: through online banking or at your nearest Provident branch. All other transaction types require no action on your part and you are covered up to your Courtesy Pay Overdraft limit for that checking account.
Note that certain types of access methods do not allow Overdraft transactions, which would overdraw your account. These include:
- Teller access at a branch
- Phone banking
- Online banking transfers*
*These type of transactions are not eligible for Overdraft Transfer Protection from a Visa.
