Both Overdraft Transfer Protection and Courtesy Pay Overdraft are designed to prevent you from having a transaction rejected due to Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), saving you from embarrassment, as well as from any additional fees from a merchant or biller. Overdraft Transfer Protection does this by allowing funds to be transferred from a previously designated Overdraft Transfer Protection source or account (including any Visa card or line of credit you have at Provident) to pay an item.
Courtesy Pay Overdraft, on the other hand, is a non-contractual courtesy offered at the sole discretion of Provident Credit Union, where if your account is in good standing, Provident Credit Union may approve your Courtesy Pay Overdraft transactions within your Courtesy Pay Overdraft limit. You will be charged a Courtesy Pay Overdraft Fee for each Courtesy Pay Overdraft item created by check, ATM transfer or withdrawal, or other electronic means paid under the Courtesy Pay Overdraft limit. You will then have to bring your account to a positive end of day balance within 30 days.
